The first Science Film Festival on the Green Future was officially opened on November 4, 2025, in Rovinj, organized by the Association for Technical Culture Galileo Galilei Rovinj and the Goethe-Institut Kroatien. The festival, held across seven Croatian cities – Rijeka, Rovinj, Buzet, Pazin, Poreč, Pula, and Umag – presents twenty-one international documentary films under the common theme “Ecology and Green Jobs of the Future.”
At the opening ceremony in the Gandusio Theatre in Rovinj, Assoc. Prof. Goran Zaharija, Ph.D., Head of the Department of Informatics at the Faculty of Science, University of Split, and member of the AI Compile Research Group, delivered an inspiring lecture titled “Smart Cities – Smart Planet.”
In his talk, he discussed the benefits and challenges of applying artificial intelligence in developing smart cities, emphasizing that “smart cities are not made by machines, but by smart people.”
His lecture attracted strong public interest and contributed to the festival’s central theme — exploring the role of science, technology, and artificial intelligence in shaping a sustainable and green future.
